We started the farm with a love for the land. We had a quest to live a healthier lifestyle with access to good, clean food.

We had been drinking raw milk and eating grass-fed beef from local farmers for over 25 years before we decided to look for land and begin raising our own food. How better to insure a good food supply than to raise it ourselves.

and pastures

How it started

We jumped right in with a herd of breeding South Pole cattle, accompanied by a jersey cow named Hannah Mae and her heifer calf Scarlett. Pigs were brought in to clear the woods, and chicken tractors were used to run through and fertilize the pastures. We found the land, fell in love, and made it happen.

It started with a need to feed ourselves, quickly we had more than enough to share.

We found like-minded people who wanted sustainable, ethically raised animals and products that they could feel good about eating. As a small boutique farm focused on the needs of our customers and ourselves, we like to meet people with the same beliefs and appreciation of the land and the beautiful creatures that help to nourish not only our beings but the land where they are born and grow to raise their own young on. It's a beautiful sustainable cycle.

The Land

Our farm is on 105 hilly, picturesque acres. Over half is pasture and the rest is woods, all of which is nestled in our very own holler. Our woods are mostly undisturbed with natural wildlife and over 5 miles of trails that connect throughout the farm. We have several natural springs, one of which runs year-round. We forage our land for natural medicinal herbs and fungi.

Giving back to the land

Regenerative agriculture isn't a new concept; it's simply reverting to what the land was originally designed to do. We see the improvements to the land through intense grazing practices:

  • (01)

Cafeteria style minerals – the cattle ingest what minerals are lacking in the grasses and return those minerals to the ground.

  • (02)

Cover crops  – add nitrogen and carbon, while providing feed for the cattle and sheep

  • (03)

The return of the dung beetles and other beneficial insects – without the chemical fly sprays and the dewormers.
